This coloured pencil portrait was produced on dark yellow tinted linear effect paper.  A limited palette of soft drawing pencils were used which lend themselves to subtle blends of overlaid colour.  Soft edges were achieved by burnishing with sections of tissue and the outlining around the eyes was enhanced by using an extremely sharpened pencil point, which was maintained by rolling across fine sandpaper at regular intervals.
