This portrait was a personal project rendered using only black, grey and white pastels therefore creating a monochrome effect.

The image was produced by using a black textured pastel board and both hard and soft pastels.  I also used sharpened pastel pencils to create controlled lines around the eyes for dramatic effect.

I chose a mirrored frame which was sympathetic to the reflected images in the cat’s eyes.
