The idea for this portrait of a white dog came after viewing my brother’s holiday photographs. While in Rhodes he had captured this image of a dog soaking up the sunshine at the side of the road.
My brother kindly allowed me to use this image and promptly sent it to me as an attachment in an e-mail. After the portrait was completed my brother viewed it and was somewhat surprised by my work, I had assumed the dog was infact the size of a German Shepherd having nothing else in the picture to compare it to when in actuality it was only the size of a Corgi!
I used a bluish grey coloured textured pastel board to create the image on and applied both hard and soft pastels. The detailed areas of the dog were completed in pastel pencils and the mosiac tiles were shaped using this medium also.
