This flower portrait was inspired by a bunch of sunflowers that I purchased from the Hadleigh Farmer’s market on a beautiful summer’s day. I wanted to achieve the brilliant colours and almost jewel like centre, so pastels were an ideal choice due to their vibrancy. A bluish grey textured pastel board was used and I decided to frame the finished work with a vivid yellow frame to give it a contemporary feel.
The portrait was exhibited at the Salvation Army Temple in Hadleigh and was purchased by a young couple for their newly acquired home.
