I started this portrait while delivering a pastel demonstration in the Hobbycraft store in Basildon, during January 2014.  It remained unfinished on my studio wall until May when I decided to continue with it.  I love ginger cats so much I couldn’t resist it any longer!  I used my favourite Sennelier pastel card in a bright salmon colour, which enhanced the tones in the fur and mainly used hard pastels, except for the final white markings which were created using white and cream shades in soft handmade sticks.

The background was also completed in soft pastels in a range of dark green shades to accentuate  the eyes.
