This portrait, although not an animal in the true sense, still lends itself to my painting technique. I decided to use oil paint as it suits the traditional fur of an old fashioned bear. I used a limited palette of brown, yellow and blue to create a natural aged look to the fur.
The reference photograph was taken at a friend’s house as she kindly set up a photo shoot of her large teddy bear collection of which many are collectors bears. My daughter acted as official photographer.
Once the painting was completed I produced a number of smaller prints on textured cream and white photo paper boards.
